"The World, the Flesh, and the Devil"

Watching this on TCM now. Seen it once before. Pretty good post-apocalyptic movie even considering it is from 1959. Harry Belafonte ("Day-o") and Inger Stevens seem to be the last 2 people on earth. They make an appealing couple...but the black-white issue lingers even after the atom bomb drops. When it's just them...the possibility of being a couple exists, but would it exist otherwise? (Kind of reminds me of the beginning of the Stephen King miniseries "The Stand" where everyone is killed off by a superbug and all the streets are deserted, before the it ended in stupid way and got ruined.)
