"Sense and Sensibility" on Masterpiece

I thought I might get tired of the "complete" Jane Austen series on PBS, but after watching the first half hour of "Sense," I really already like this version very much.

Woot off lasts almost 48 hours...

...and I am bagless once again. At least it's not that I missed it, it's because one was never offered!

WOOT OFF!!!

Yes, just in time for insomniac days-off shopping action!

"Donnie Darko" and "Primary Colors"

"Donnie Darko" is a film I haven't figured out yet. I read the IMDB FAQ and it cleared it up some. Who is Frank? Is Donnie psychotic? Jake Gyllenhaal, Jena Malone, Mary McDonnell, and Maggie Gyllenhaal (in a small role) are fantastic. In fact, here is a pic of Jake Gyllenhaal.

"Primary Colors"
is a good underlooked film that tackles ethics, idealism, politics, and the Clintons. John Travolta deserved a lot more for his role as the presidential hopeful.

External Hard Drives

After asking for some help, I finally figured out I didn't have to use the software included with the hard drive to transfer files. All I had to do was drag and drop the files from one window to another. Sigh.

The Simpsons Movie

It was a really long tv episode, with PG-13 touches like seeing Bart's private parts briefly and Homer giving the bird with both hands. A little disappointed.

Two movie recommedations

3rd Blu-ray movie: "Becoming Jane." Didn't expect anything, maybe that's why I liked it so much. Anne Hathaway is actually pretty good playing English icon Jane Austen. Beautiful scenery, star-crossed love, period costumes, and English accents... all the ingredients of movies I like. I think I liked it more than the Keira Knightley "Pride and Prejudice."

2nd recommendation: "The Lady Vanishes" (1938) directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Starts out like an Altman movie with a lot of characters, turns into a better version of "Flightplan," and ends up being spy movie, mixed up with Nazi era menace. Michael Redgrave plays charming and heroic very well. Wonder why Margaret Lockwood, the heroine, didn't make anymore memorable movies (at least of those I know.) Just watched this on TCM my favorite channel.

Hulu.com

Streaming video of nbc and fox shows, including some fox movies at:
Hulu.com
This morning the streaming was pretty lousy (lots of buffering). But tonight I have already watched a Simpsons and a King of the Hill episode without any fits and starts. It probably is because it is almost like 1 am (what am I doing I have to wake up at 6:40am) and a lot less people are trying to get on. Nothing to download, just use your browser.

MBA remote disc...a big pain

File sharing between my MBA and Dell is finally going okay. So I tried the remote disc function to back up iTunes music from MBA using my Dell dvd/cd burner. I can't play or burn CD's or DVD's. After consulting the lackluster Apple support page, it looks like I have to shell out $99 for the external MBA superdrive if I want that functionality. Oh well. I thought I would discard my Dell, but both laptops are on all the time now. I am tech obsessed without any tech knowledge.

Japanese teen drama

I was checking out AZN on cable and ran across "Life," a teen angst drama from Japan. It had no subtitles, but I could figure out that this girl was being bullied by "mean girls." I found out I could watch the whole thing on this website:

Haven't watched much of it, but it looks promising.
